shapes in the traditional way that we have all been conditioned to,
I started to look at the major scale from a completely different
perspective. I started looking at them
horizontally and what I saw made me gasp in amazement.
I
Could Barely Contain My Excitement
I quickly checked to see if my discovery held true on the whole
fretboard, all 24 plus frets. I could barely contain my excitement as I
grabbed my guitar and very rapidly realised that it did. In
one delicious swoop, I had just managed to identify a simple way to move from one end
of the fretboard to the other, and hit every perfect note in any key.
I became ecstatic. The move was so fluid I didn't even have to check
where I was. I just moved around the whole fretboard as if I had been

long to work out where I was on the fretboard, anything I was
playing always sounded so rigid and fake. Because of that, my timing
suffered and it gave the game away to anyone listening that I didn't
really have a clue.
Anyhow, I quickly forgot all
the negative stuff. Can you imagine the feeling I was experiencing?
I was flying around the fretboard, always hitting the right notes
and sounding like I always knew I could. It was an incredible
moment.
No matter what backing track I
played, I was instantly able to slot into the tune and play all my
own original riffs, melodies and solos. It was impossible not to! I
couldn't believe it, something so simple had the power to instantly
change my playing so radically for the better.

When I sat down and analyzed what this meant to me,
my heart rate
multiplied. Being able to see and play all the notes in the mother scale, in
